EVE: Aether Wars:

Phase Two

- Thank You

It's been an amazing weekend and we couldn’t have come this far without your help. We put our SDK in the hands of CCP Games and they built EVE Aether Wars: Phase Two, designing and building a gameplay experience from scratch on Aether Engine — their complete 3-month long rewrite of the game since GDC. And what a rewrite it was!

WHAT IS EVE AETHER WARS
PHASE TWO?

In partnership with CCP Games, EVE Aether Wars: Phase Two is the next stage in the ground-breaking tech demo that brought together 3,852 players in a single battle and saw the destruction of 88,988 spaceships live at Game Developers Conference earlier this year!

Check out our FAQs for more information.

Explosion-1
“Over the course of the action, some 88,988 ships were destroyed, making other sci-fi sagas such as Mass Effect look like a grazed knee by comparison. The showcase demonstrates the leaps made in massively multiplayer simulation games.”

We knew that Hadean's tech held massive potential, and I'm ecstatic to see that potential realised for the first time with EVE: Aether Wars"

“Did EVE Aether Wars succeed? As a tech demo, absolutely. Hadean proved right then and there that they could have nearly 15,000 players simultaneously connected and not crash the server. Anyone who has messed around with game development has, at some point, crashed their own game because they loaded up with too much junk or made it too inefficient. (I certainly have!) That is no small feat.”

Game Revolution

“It's not just the sheer number of forces actively fighting in one instance that makes this demo stand out, it's that unlike EVE Online, it included physics, even for the hundreds of thousands of torpedos launched.”

“The phrase '10,000-player deathmatch' – whether it fills you with excitement, dread or simply curiosity – is difficult to ignore. Creating one was the ambitious goal of Hadean, a London-based engineering company specialising in large-scale simulation. And at this year’s GDC, with the tech demo Eve: Aether Wars, it hit it.”
